Anticipating grief

Anticipating grief is never an easy thing. The thought that our loved one is going to die is not a consoling fact. Anticipatory grief is period during which a patient or family member expects to die. Anticipatory grief is quite similar to the after effects of losing a loved one. The emotions are no less different than when one experiences a tragic and sudden death of a loved one. It is the same loss and it hurts just as bad. It comes with some of the same feelings of guilt, shock and denial and is associated with cultural, and social reactions to the loss.



Anticipatory grief creates tremendous concern for the person who is dying, fearful preparation of the departure of their loved one, and making the adjustments to life without the loved one. The View the rest of this article
